Spotlight on Marrie Stone
|
by: Barbara DeMarco-Barrett
One night more than there years ago, Marrie Stone walked into my private writing workshop, took a seat, and the first thing out of my mouth was, "Have you ever considered doing radio? Would you like to be my co-host?"
I'd been doing the show almost 10 years, one hour a week, with few weeks off, and needed a break. She said she was interested, and the next day she signed up for KUCI's training program. When the next quarter was being scheduled, she was on it.
Marrie is a natural. ...

Why There's
No Money in My 401(k)
A Diary of Obsessive Materialism (Vol. 6) |
by Kyle Olson
In an effort to fulfill some bizarre
need in my life, I purchase a lot of CDs, both old and new. They are
obsessively cataloged and organized and poured over track by track (Seriously,

The opener is energetic, poppy, happy, amazing, and is a great place to start, while the closing track reminds me of Lush, and is a fitting way to end the album.

Italian Babylon Alborosie's Global Reggae |
by: Jarret Lovell
Delivering the keynote address at the February opening ceremony of the 2010 International Reggae Conference in Kingston, Jamaica's Culture Minister Olivia Babsy Grange noted that, with the rise of the Internet and the ease of international travel, "all audiences" of reggae music are "global audiences." Moreover, she predicted that if current trends in music continue, "Jamaica and reggae could no longer be synonymous."
Although Jamaica has recently made the news more for its ghetto violence tha...
